[Photo: My now former home in Hell’s Kitchen.]
Things around here have been a bit quiet lately. Not because I have nothing to write about or want to say, but because we are simply in a holding pattern at the moment. The purchase process of our dream home (the purpose of this blog) is still ongoing. God willing, we will close before the end of August.
In other news…. I closed on my former home in Hell’s Kitchen recently. This being a seller’s market, I was fortunate to receive the bounty of the current market in Manhattan. When I bought my tiny home in the summer of 2010, I negotiated a price 10% below the sellers purchase price only three year earlier, and it turned out to be the lowest price for a comparable unit in the building since 2004. Now upon selling, I scored new high sales price for a comparable unit in the building. All in four years…. This fortune is being parlayed into the new home of course, so don’t think we are off to Atlantic City or anything.
As for the new place…. We were able to tour the unit last week to take additional measurements and snap a few more pictures. My calculations put it at 785 square feet, making this the largest apartment I have ever lived in as an adult. Very exciting!
More updates soon, I promise!
